Groveley has been supporting local students’ career evenings explaining the reality and opportunities of a career as an engineer and talking about apprenticeship opportunities within our company.
For Groveley, apprenticeships are a proven way to develop people – it’s a long-term view we hold to help ensure our future as a precision engineering company. Alongside that, it is important for manufacturers to promote links with schools and colleges to improve the perception of engineering among young people. They need a real view of engineering so they are more able to make balanced and realistic career choices.
We were among 19 local engineering employers at a special Careers in Engineering event at Bournemouth Airport arranged by the Technical Skills Development Group (TSDG), working with local businesses to tackle the skills gap in the Engineering sector and promote apprenticeships.
Groveley also assisted at a recent Careers Convention at Queen Elizabeth School joining more than 50 volunteers helping Year 11 pupils plan their futures.
At both events pupils and their parents seized the opportunity to ask questions to understand the many different possibilities that are out there for them.
